How to Verify an Ubuntu ISO Download

Download your ISO and published checksum from the official project. Compute a SHA-256 checksum locally and compare it with the published value. When the project offers signed checksum manifests, validate the signature as well. This reduces the risk of installing a corrupted or tampered image.

Before you install

Always review the current project's documentation, support policy, release notes and download checksums. Requirements and supported features vary by release and hardware.
